An authentic learning activity that builds upon prior knowledge and increases the knowledge contained within their milk schema.
Students will obtain information from a media source.
Students need to be exposed to several types of text.

The Milk Makers videocassette (Reading Rainbow)
The Milk Makers (Gibbons, 1985)

markers, crayons
Procedure
1.Begin with a KWL about milk to activate students prior knowledge and to give students focus.
2.Watch the videocassette.
3.Have students draw something they have learned.
4.Discuss what was learned and complete KWL.
5.Keep the book in the book center.
