Objectives
Students will be engaged in a shared reading experience and enhance their awareness of illustrations/concepts of print/vocabulary/and comprehension development.
Students will be exposed to poetry based on food.
Students need to be exposed to multiple types of texts.
Students will see reading poetry as a form of entertainment.

Materials
Never Take a Pig to Lunch And Other Poems About The Fun Of Eating (Westcott, 1994)
chart paper

Procedure
1.Read a poem or two each day.
2.Have students listen for food words, rhyming words, new words, etc. Record on chart paper.
